The energy sector has been particularly affected by the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, given the sharp drop in fossil fuel prices, excess supply and the absence of energy demand. In this context, the promotion of non-conventional renewable energies (NCRE) emerges as an ideal option to deal with the limitations of conventional energies, such as gaps in access to electricity, while mitigating the effects of climate change.
Along these lines, as part of the “Climate Change Series in times of Coronavirus” of the Regional Program for Energy Security and Climate Change in Latin America (EKLA) of KAS, Carlos Trinidad and Daniela Soberón, IPC researchers published a publication on the situation of Non-conventional renewable energies as actors in the post-COVID 19 recovery in the region.
