Bill (PL) 06953/2020 introduces the urgency of the energy transition as a topic on the parliamentary agenda and seeks to specify some aspects, which today represent barriers to the development of the renewable energy market. For this reason, we consider that this PL is viable and we urge Congress to promptly debate and prioritize it in plenary session.
The PL seeks to strengthen and consolidate the regulations on renewable energies, updating the national goals on the participation of RERs in the electricity matrix, such as Legislative Decree No. 1002, Law for the promotion of investment for the generation of electricity with the use of renewable energies, which had been overwhelmed to provide a comprehensive and consistent response to the global challenges of the climate emergency in which we find ourselves.
In addition, it is compatible with the determined national contributions, updated last year, which increase the national climate ambition to a 40% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, in a business-as-usual scenario, by the year 2030.
